Moxacology Institute of North America

M.I.N.A.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China, and Beijing Wanfang Data, we are bringing you M.I.N.A.!

The mission of M.I.N.A. is to bring the latest and most advanced moxibustion technology to North America, and to promote international exchange in education, research and clinical practice.

Moxacology is the study of moxibustion, a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy, which involves the burning of the dried herb Artemesia arygi (Chinese Mugwort) near the surface of the skin.

When deftly applied by a skillful practitioner, moxa heat can penetrate and radiate to different sites of the body to treat specific conditions, or invigorate the bodies defense mechanism for disease prevention. There are written records that the Chinese used moxibustion to treat diseases and prevent disease for more than 2,000 years.
